Jenny Chou

Chinese Medicine Practitioner

Jenny has recently moved to Tasmania from Adelaide, where she was involved in a thriving practice, to enjoy a quieter lifestyle here. Jenny brings over 30 years of experience in problem solving which includes 5 years in a Chinese hospital as an Paediatrician.

According to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) all ailments begin with imbalance, so to re-balance is a key -  by stimulating the body's own systems to heal itself for a more sustainable form of natural healing. This can reduce the need for long term medication for both physical and mental-emotional health conditions. Jenny is passionate about helping people to understand and achieve the best health outcomes naturally.

Jenny does use Evidence Based Medicine where this is available and integrates this with the rich traditional knowledge and experience of TCM to find the right treatment for each individual Patient.

Traditional Chinese Medicine encompasses acupuncture, moxibustion (burning an herb above the skin to apply heat to acupuncture points), Chinese herbal medicine, tui na (Chinese therapeutic massage), dietary therapy. TCM is rooted in the ancient philosophy of Taoism and dates back more than 2,500 years.  TCM's view of the body is mainly concerned with the identification of functional entities which regulate digestion, breathing, aging etc. Health is a harmonious interaction of these entities and the outside world, disease is disharmony in interaction. TCM diagnosis traces symptoms to patterns of an underlying disharmony, by measuring the pulse, inspecting the tongue, skin, and eyes, and looking at the eating and sleeping habits of the person as well as exploring more specific symptom related history.

Traditional Chinese medicine originated in ancient China and has evolved over thousands of years. TCM practitioners use herbal medicines, acupuncture and various mind and body practices, treat or prevent health problems.

Jenny has:

A Bachelors of TCM: Fujian University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China;

a Master of Chinese Medicine: University of Western Sydney; and an

Advanced Diploma of Western Medicine Science: Xuzhou Medical University, China.

Jenny is registered in acupuncture and Chinese Medicine with AHPRA and CMBA.
